5 Liter Slugger

Well, sort of. The 467 horsepower 5 liter V8 packs enough ponies to scoot this luxury car around on the road, why not take it to the race track? It’s much more rigid than the IS-F making for a fun platform to play with. If nothing else it is certainly bound to be comical when the driver goes faster than an M3 or STi.

F is for Fuji

Some may scoff or even laugh at the idea of entering a luxury car into a competitive event, but I don’t think this is necessarily the case. While it may not be an Ariel Atom it’s important to remember Lexus uses a very fast and demanding race track as it’s testing facility so their foundation is solid. On the bright side if you’re not the fastest guy you probably have the most comfortable ride home!

Advantage Neova

Tires are arguably the most important thing on a performance vehicle as they are the only thing that actually touches the ground. The owner of this RC-F opted for Advan Neovas which make for a great tire in the street class. The only real modification is a set of shocks and springs that have been upgraded in exchange of the factory units.

ReConsider Facts

Almost every major publication that has reviewed this car at the track has walked away with the same conclusion: it’s way better than you think. Big complaints come from the transmission which is to be expected from an automatic in, what is after all, still a luxury car before anything else. Probably best to not mention the word “racetrack” to the dealership.

Final Thoughts

It’s cool to see a big luxury car doing something it wasn’t ever intended to do and even cooler to see someone who isn’t afraid to approach track days in a different and much more comfortable way. The idea of a big luxo car bombing around for top times isn’t a new concept, but it is always an entertaining one to watch!
