The Lexus 2740 SKYJET From Summer Blockbuster Movie Valerian
This summer the sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will hit theaters, and along with new worlds and creatures there will be a new Lexus.
1. Setting the stage
When the Valerian team along with Lexus were tasked with building a vehicle that would live in the world 700 years from now. They took inspiration from not only Valerian’s futuristic setting but also their own brand ethos of performance, style, and innovation to give them a creative direction. This film will spin a narrative that includes more than 3,000 types of alien, all-new architecture, and all sorts of creative other-world weaponry.
2. Lexus language from earth to the cosmos
The SKYJET is a single-seater pursuit craft that features the Lexus trademark spindle grille at the front and melds performance, style, and innovation altogether. The angled headlights of the craft are reminiscent of those found on the hotly anticipated 2018 LC coupe. As for the interior of the craft, the creative teams looked to the work that has been accomplished with AI vehicles and advanced HMI technologies. Even though the movie is set far off into a fictional future the spacecraft was made grounded firmly in reality in terms of how it could function.
3. A fine vessel indeed
The cinematic pursuit vehicle was unveiled by the film’s titular star, Dane DeHaan, as part of an event that immersed guests in all things Lexus. DeHaan remarked that “I have always wanted to work with Luc Besson because he really hones in on every single detail in his films, bringing the narrative to life in the most imaginative way possible. The collaboration with Lexus on the SKYJET is a great example of this, Valerian’s epic chase scenes with the vehicle are sure to be one of the most exhilarating moments in the film.”
4. Letting imaginations soar
Spiros Fotinos, Head of Global Brand Marketing at Lexus, added “When Luc first spoke to us about his vision for Valerian, it was clear that he shared our ambition to go beyond the ordinary and create amazing experiences. It was an exciting challenge to help imagine the design and technologies for the SKYJET from a Lexus point of view. In addition to having our brand be part of an incredible story, we got to enjoy the look of our designers and engineers when we told them they get to work on a spaceship!”
