It's about time

What we're all hoping was coming has now been announced by a shadowy inside source at Lexus: the LC F is coming. Even better yet, the specs of the vehicle make it sound like the second coming of the lofty Toyota Supra. That's right, the LC is finally ditching the naturally aspirated lifestyle for a bump up to the wonders of a boosted powerplant. The news comes after many were left scratching their heads as to why the Japanese brand was the only luxury marque that hadn't made the switch to turbos following the transitions by AMG, BMW, and Audi.

Because 620 hp is so pas·sé

The 4.0-liter V8 in this barn burner of a coupe will be hooked up to a biturbo that will pump out a suggested 621 horsepower. Now anyone who knows even a tiny bit about the Supra of years past is that the car's engine and turbos could handle tons of power and was open to almost any mod. This is important when thinking about the LC F as not just a car that 's fast but the ability to take that base groundwork and build something to stand up to other cars like the Z06 and 911 S.

There should be room to grow

However, if you are perfectly content with the 621 that could be on tap then you are still ahead of the 610 coming from the Audi R8 V10 Plus and the 577 hp coming from the AMG GT-R. Other whispers about what the LC F could be, say that the car will be 7% lighter than it's NA sibling the LC 500 thanks to the use of reinforced carbon fiber. What we haven't heard anything about is what kind of transmission will be hooked up to that big beautifully boosted V8.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer

The inside source did give a tip on one could expect to spend if ownership of the LC F is something they'd desire to become. That handsome sum of money would come to about $176,000. Lexus knows that the LC F is a niche vehicle and so production of it would be on the same line as the LC 500 and 500h. We could see a streamlined version of CFRP components as things would take place in the same plant instead of a dedicated facility like the making of the LFA.

When could we see it? What will it look like?

You can always take rumors with a grain of salt and not buy a ticket to the hype train if you'd like for the new halo car but keep this in mind: Lexus did file a trademark for the "LC F" title earlier this year. If we had to do some speculation of our own on when we could see a public debut of this 2019 vehicle we'd put our collective money on the Geneva show in Spring of 2018.
