The Facelifted 2018 CT200h That North America Will Not Receive

Even though the USA won't be getting the Lexus CT, Americans have to sit and watch their European friends get an even better version of the small hatch-back.

1. Lexus CT

The Lexus CT was introduced at the New York International Auto Show on April 20th. The hybrid/electric vehicle was originally designed for the European market, but the better-looking Prius has been selling around the world for its entire life. The Lexus CT was designed as a luxurious version of the Toyota Prius, which is why it uses the same engine as the third generation Prius.

After an extremely tough competition from cars like the Audi A3 and the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Lexus CT's sales went from being 15,000 units per year in the USA to be 8,903 units, which helped make the decision of ending the sales of the Lexus CT in the USA, with 2017 being the end.

2. Exterior

After being on the market for seven years, the new Lexus CT was due for a little facelift. The exterior received some mild changes, like the modified front, which features an all-new Lexus spindle grille, as well as modified headlights, which make the CT even more pleasureful to look at. The rear also received mild touch-ups, like the refreshed taillights, which are smooth, yet aggressive, shining some light on the CT's true spirit.

3. Interior

On the inside of the 2018 Lexus CT, customers will get to choose from 10 different colors and material. There are six trim options to choose from, and each one comes with unique materials, colors, and features. The infotainment screen is the highlight of the interior facelift for the 2018 CT model, which features a 10.3-inch display. Aside from the upgrades, we can see, the CT interior cabin has received some refreshments that make it more comfortable, as well as quieter.

4. The Engine

The 2018 Lexus CT will, unfortunately, continue to use the same engine: the third generation Prius-based 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle engine. The power is distributed between the four-cylinder gas engine, which produces 98-horsepower, and the 80-horsepower electric motor, and together they produce 134-horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. This type of performance could very well be the reason that played a role in the USA's lack of sale for the CT, as the car is heavier than the Prius, making it slower than its little Toyota sister.

5. Release Date and Price

As of right now, the exact release date and prices are slightly vague; however, we do know that the 2018 Lexus CT will be available for sale in the European market in the Fall of 2017. The CT will be officially unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show soon, which will reveal all the details As for the price tag, the Lexus CT is anticipated to carry a price tag that starts from $30,000 for the Base model, and the tag could go up to $40,000 for the premium models.
