If you're torn between buying a luxury SUV or a fully-capable off-road SUV, then your prayers have been answered. The Lexus GX 460 now officially does it all.
1. Exterior Refinement
The 2017 Lexus GX 460 models receive some upgrades that make it even better looking than ever. for the ultimate look, the GX is now offered with the brand new Sport Design Package. This package changes the front and rear fascias to sportier, more aggressive versions, as well as adding sporty exhaust tips, special side-mirrors, and gray 18-inch wheels. The redesign completely modernizes the SUV, making it a great-looking ride for almost anyone.
2. Interior Goodness
The interior of the Lexus GX 460 never lacked comfort, and it continues to get even better. Now, the heated and ventilated front seats are standard on any trim level you choose. As an option, the GX 460 offers second-row captain seats, or the more typical bench. The driver gets a combination mixture of wood/leather steering wheel, as well as wood shift-knob as standard luxury fittings for any model. Finally, the third-row now gets air conditioner controls with its own climate zone, and the entire climate control features air filters and a smog sensor.
3. Safety
The new GX 460 is equipped with a TORSEN torque-sensing limited-slip center differential to get you through any terrain. This technology electronically distributes power between the front and rear axles to allow for maximum traction. All four-wheels are actively working at all times, with traction control sensors constantly adjusting for any slippage. Even though this system should help prevent accidents, the GX is also equipped with 10 airbags, a blind spot monitor, lane departure alert, and a pre-collision system with driver attention monitor.
4. The Heart of the GX 460
Powering the luxurious Lexus GX 460 is a 4.6-liter V8 motor, which produces 301 horsepower. The eight-cylinder engine works collaboratively with variable valve timing technology, which increases torque at low-speeds, as well as increases horsepower at higher speeds. The V8 engine is rated to use 15 mpg in the city, and 18 mph on the open highway.
5. Capabilities
The 2017 Lexus GX 460 is equipped to make it an extremely capable vehicle. Off road for instance, you can activate Crawl Control with a quick press of a button, which automatically manages the throttle and brakes, to maintain traction in rough terrains. The GX is also equipped with Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which disengages the front and rear stabilizers bars for better articulation on rough surfaces. On road, the GX can tow up to 6,500 pounds safely, thanks to Trailer Sway Control, and Vehicle Stability Control, which allows the brakes to work separately on each wheel for more control while towing.
