Gift of Mods

As the saying goes, "happy wife, happy life." But you could say the same thing about any good husband, of course. Couples that spoil each other tend to be a little happier, and what better way to accomplish that than by jazzing up your significant other's ride? So that's exactly what Club Lexus member Christopher Durham (Snailedit) decided to do to his wife's bone stock IS200T.

Small Step, Big Difference

The goal of this build was to give the rather normal Lexus a sportier look so that it would stand out from the crowd. The first step in achieving that goal was to paint the roof black, which actually made a big difference.

Halfway Down

Next, this husband of the year wanted to lower his wife's IS to eliminate that ugly wheel gap. So he went with RSR half downs and 20mm and 25mm spacers to fix the stance. "I really like this drop because the ride still feels the same," Durham said. "I personally wanted to go with RSR Downs, but this is my wife's ride so I wanted it to be easy for her to drive without having to worry about rubbing or scraping in parking lots."

Standing Out

To continue the sporty theme, the OP went ahead and painted the car's brake calipers yellow and added some F-Sport decals to them. It's another subtle mod, yet Durham admits that it quickly became his favorite visual change to date.

Soul Searching

After quite a bit of searching and input from several other forum members, Durham finally landed on a rear decklid and roof spoiler that he liked. But since they wouldn't arrive for a few weeks, he pressed on with some other projects.

Matching Set

He popped off the Lexus' center caps and painted them yellow, and ordered some Lexus decals to make them stand out a little more. But he didn't even finish that job before the new spoilers arrived.

Spoiled

Durham couldn't wait to install those new pieces, and it was a nice day, so he went ahead and got them in place. They turned out fantastic, but unfortunately, he quickly discovered that his new center caps wouldn't fit.

Persistence Pays Off

With a little persistence, he eventually managed to make the freshly painted caps fit, however. And with some new AeroFlow side skirts on the way, he went ahead and removed the originals.

Finished?

It wasn't long before the new side skirts were in place and looking fantastic. And at this point, Durham was ready to call his project finished. "Overall I am very happy with everything on the car and I'm pretty much done with it. If I was going to do anymore, I was thinking of blacking out the chrome on the side windows and doing a Stillen lower rear valance. Maybe a CAI and tune."

Change on the Horizon

Since then, he hasn't changed anything on his wife's Lexus, but there's a good chance this project isn't finished just yet. So head over here to stay tuned for future updates!
