A strange but cool conversion.

Sneaky Conversion

When people talk about the Toyota Land Cruiser, they imagine the large, less-luxurious version of the Lexus LX, an off-road capable SUV that can also carry the whole family wherever they might want to go in total comfort. In other parts of the world, however, the Land Cruiser Prado exists as a less-luxurious version of the GX, too. But while this SUV up for grabs at Cars & Bids might look like a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, it's actually a GX that someone converted to look like that international model.

Well Optioned

This particular vehicle started life as a 2010 Lexus GX460, its very first model year in the U.S. It's a well-equipped model with a host of options including the Comfort Plus Package, Convenience Package, Preferred Accessory Package, electronic locking Torsen limited-slip center differential, and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, a solid base for any build.

Total Conversion

From there, the seller completed a total cosmetic conversion to make this what is essentially a Land Cruiser Prado, a unique treatment that makes it truly stand out in the U.S. On the outside, that conversion began with the installation of a Land Cruiser Prado 150 front fascia, headlights, grille, hood, running boards, tail lights, and exterior emblems.

Updated Cabin

Inside the cabin, this GX has been treated to a Toyota steering wheel emblem as well, but the rest is all GX. In fact, the seller updated the SUV a bit with the addition of a shift knob, center console, and cup holders from a 2021 GX 460.

Not Fooling Anyone?

Pop the hood, and you'll find more of the same, as this GX's powerplant features a painted cover with a Toyota emblem. Regardless, underneath, it's still the familiar 1UR-FE 4.6-liter DOHC V8, which was originally rated to produce 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Capped Off

The seller also went so far as to add a set of 19-inch Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150 wheels to this GX, capping off a look that would have just about anyone confused as to what it really is.

Standing Out

This is certainly a unique and interesting build and one that we're pretty sure no one else has replicated - at least not yet. But for those that dig the look of the Land Cruiser Prado or just want to stand out from the crowd, this is a pretty cool way to do just that.
