Protect Your RC Coupe with a Clear Bra Installation

Clean the Area

Before attempting to install a clear bra guard on your Lexus RC, make sure the area you will cover is as clean as can be. Use water and soap to remove any dirt or grime that is on the bumper, then dry it and visually inspect it to ensure it's smooth and clear of anything that would get trapped under the clear bra. It is vital to get it completely clean, to the point of using rubbing alcohol on a clean rag to remove any residual fingerprints. 

Spray Area with Solution

The clear bra film you purchase will come with the solution that works best for it, or it will instruct you on what solution to buy. Most clear guards use a mixture of water and alcohol, just like a vinyl wrap. Generously spray the solution on the area you will cover.

Wipe and Spray

Use a window squeegee to wipe the solution off of the bumper, then respray it again. This ensures you have an extra clean surface because any dirt that gets trapped under the clear bra wrap will show. Spray the entire area with the solution again. While you're spraying, spray your hands with the solution, this allows you to handle the clear vinyl without being concerned with leaving your fingerprints on it.

Install Clear Bra Film

Gently, patiently, and carefully place the clear bra film material on the bumper, slowly adjusting it so it sits properly in place. Start adjusting the corners to ensure the entire bra is sitting properly, then spray the outside of it with the same solution you used under it. It will take quite a bit of patience to make it conform to the curves of the car.

Remove Trapped Bubbles

Once the clear wrap properly is in place, use a credit card, or a squeegee, to smooth out the guard. Use smooth motions from the top going down, or from the bottom going up, and be sure to slide all the way until you reach the edge of the clear bra to remove all bubbles. You may need to readjust as you do this because the guard will slightly move as you swipe the card. Continue to do this until you can't see any more bubbles.

Dry the Film

Once the clear bra film is in place with no bubbles trapped under it, use a blow dryer to dry and shrink the whole thing. Set your blow dryer on the lowest heat setting, and don't get too close to the film or you may overheat it. Slowly go from one side and make your way across, and if you notice any bubbles, go back to your credit card process and remove the bubbles. If one of the areas or corners isn't sticking, pull it slightly off and spray some more water/alcohol solution, remove the bubbles, then dry it again with the blow dryer.
