1. Compelling Changes

The current Lexus IS received its last full-on redesign way back in 2013. And yet, Lexus has managed to keep the compact sports luxury sedan fresh with a series of tweaks over the years. That includes the refreshed 2018 model, which is every bit as stunning and fresh looking as it could possibly be. With just a few strokes of the pen, Lexus manages to keep the IS looking new, even when it isn't (kind of!).

2. Fresh in the Front (and out Back)

Look closely, and you'll notice a few changes beginning in the front. The headlights are stretched out just a tad, while that distinctive spindle grille gets a slight reshape. Out back, you'll find an attractive new taillight design, revamped exhaust diffusers, and oblong exhaust tips. And in case you're bored with the current color offerings, the IS receives a couple of new choices for 2018 to keep things interesting.

3. More Power! (Maybe)

Depending on which powerplant you spec in your 2018 IS, you may get a slight increase in power over last year. The IS 300 RWD (formerly known as the IS 200t RWD) is unchanged for 2018, pumping out 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Opting for the IS 300 AWD model will net you a 5 hp increase over last year from its 3.5-liter V6, which produces 260 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to the IS 350 will also net you a 5 hp gain, up to 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque from the 3.5-liter V6.

4. Enhanced Safety Features

Safety is a big thing at Lexus these days, and they didn't leave the 2018 IS out in the cold when it comes to advanced technology in that regard. Lexus Safety System+, which features a pre-collision system capable of seeing drivers and pedestrians, now comes standard on the IS. The package also includes goodies like intelligent high-beam assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, and high-speed adaptive cruise control.

5. What Else is New?

The 2018 Lexus IS also features a host of additional upgrades that make the revised sedan a better value. A backup camera is now standard on all models, while the IS 350 RWD and F-Sport models get a limited-slip differential. A new, available Comfort Package includes Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Also available is an adaptive front lighting system. And all models come with 10 years of complimentary Enform Safety Connect and Enform Service Connect.
