GS 350 F Sport

The Lexus GS 350 is a popular sedan that offers excellent quality and pleasant driving experience. But the F-Sport package makes it even better, and I drove one for a week to experience all of the great features this sporty trim has to offer.

F-Sport Goodies

The F-Sport pack has a long list of goodies. For performance, we get 19-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned adaptive suspension, variable gear-ratio steering, Sport drive mode, and four-piston brakes. Luxury items include heated seats, rain sensor wipers, rear sunshade, sport 16-way driver’s seat, and all kinds of eye-catching trim.

The F-sport brings the price of the GS350 up from $50,600 to $52,360. But the window sticker had more options to bring the price up even more. The biggest hit was four-wheel steering at $1,700. With the addition of a heads-up display, limited slip rear, power trunk, leather wheel, trunk mats, and illuminated door sills, the tab reached $57,460.

Smooth Power Delivery

All GS 350 sedans are powered by the proven 3.5-liter direct injection V-6 cranking 311 horsepower and hooked to a nice 8-speed automatic gearbox. The fuel economy is listed at 19 mpg in city driving, and 27 on the highway, which is close to what I observed.

Classy Interior

The interior has plenty of high-quality materials. The workmanship is first-rate, which is no surprise since the car is assembled in their Aichi, Japan plant. I like the old-fashioned analog clock on the dash with real hands, a touch of class. The rear window sunshade does a nice job of keeping out the sun’s rays.

Multiple Driving Modes

A knob on the console offers different driving modes such as Eco, Normal, Custom, Sport, and Sport+. The last two allow more aggressive driving and better cornering ability.

InfoNav System

The navigation and entertainment system is controlled by a "joy stick" that offers better control than finger touch units. It is easy to master with a bit of practice.

Quick Acceleration

The performance of the GS 350 is pretty impressive, too. 0-60 mph was reached in about 5.7 seconds. In sport mode, taking tight corners on twisty mountain roads is great fun. Yet for daily commuting, you can just slip it in the Normal mode, for comfortable and pleasant transportation.

F-Sport

Overall, the GS 350 F Sport provides a really nice driving experience. It is no secret that Lexus cars are built with the highest quality run fine long after the warranty expires, and that makes them well worth the price in my book.
