Odd Discovery
As most are well aware, Lexus is Toyota's premium brand, and the two share quite a bit in common in terms of vehicles, as is usually the case with this type of arrangement. Lexus just offers more luxurious and sometimes feature-rich alternatives to Toyota models, and that's certainly true of the Lexus ES and Toyota Camry, which are both mid-size sedans riding on the same platform. However, as CarsDirect recently discovered, it's actually cheaper to lease an ES right now than a Camry, oddly enough.

Brand New Model
The 2025 Toyota Camry was recently revealed as a completely redesigned version of the long-running sedan, and it's adding a hybrid powertrain to the lineup for the very first time, too. As is typically the case, this redesign was also accompanied by a price increase, and that's precisely the driving factor behind this odd phenomenon.

Cheapest Lease
The very first lease deals for the 2025 Camry were recently revealed, and the cheapest way to get behind the wheel is via the base LE trim, which has an MSRP of $29,804. It can be leased for $359 a month for 36 months - or $442 if we factor in the $2,999 due at signing.

Steep Price
However, most will likely be targeting the better-equipped XLE, but customers looking to lease one will have to shell out $469 per month for a 36-month lease, with the same $2,999 due at signing. This makes for an effective monthly cost of $552, which is rather high by anyone's standards - particularly so for a mainstream sedan.

Better Deal
By comparison, current lease deals for the 2024 Lexus ES 350 FWD model, specifically, show that one can have that particular model for $399 a month over 36 months with $4,999 due at signing, making for an effective cost of $538 per month.

Apples to Oranges
This is notable because the ES has a far higher MSRP of $47,140, meaning that it's certainly a better value than the Camry XLE and its MSRP of $29,804. Better yet, the ES gives shoppers a big power boost, not to mention more luxurious features compared to the Camry.

Old vs New
It isn't terribly surprising that lease deals on the new Camry aren't exactly great, as is often the case with new vehicles. On the flip side of the coin, the ES has been around in its current form for a while, which explains its lease superior offers. However, for those who don't have to have the newest vehicle on the market, it's clear that ES is a far better deal right now.
