IS-GTF

Everything on this car is function over form. Rear wheel arches tower over the massively sticky race tires with stock body lines that draw the eyes in. If there were any more louvers on the hood you might as well take it off entirely. These cars were tuned to 550bhp with a flat shift sequential transmission. Lexus definitely needs to offer that as an option on all of its cars!

RC-F GT3

Race cars can be works of art with the beautiful RC-F GT3 that went on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2017. About as aggressive as styling gets the company displayed this car to a swarm of adoring fans. The rear diffuser is massive and only rivaled in size by the width of the wing directly above it. Everything on this car reminds us what these guys can do.

LC500

This GT500 class racer is a monumental testament to what Lexus is capable of when they put their minds to hitting the track. 650 horsepower and a full sequential transmission are cocooned by a carbon fiber monocoque that has massive downforce from the swan-neck wing and other trick aero bits. A true racer of the highest caliber.

LFA GTE

The supercar race car that never was a car. Originally developed for the World Endurance Championship, this car would simply become too much of a burden for the company to complete. As often is the case, it disappeared into obscurity leaving us all wondering how dominant an LFA based factory racing car would have been. Power levels were even decreased to 468bhp and 413lb-ft to help engine longevity.

Super GT and future in DTM?

Last year in an odd showing DTM allowed Lexus LC500 (a Super GT series car) to participate in the Hockenheim finale. This puts an interesting question mark at the end of where Lexus plans on going with motorsports. Are DTM and Super GT considering a super-merger that will see cars like Lexus go up against the likes of BMW and Mercedes for touring car supremacy? Don’t count them out! The current crop of offerings seems to be heading in a more sporting direction! Until next time!
