1. Tools Needed

To safely jack up your Lexus, you will need a jack, two jack stands, two wheel chocks, and a good floor jack. You should never jack up your car without securing the wheels with wheel chocks to prevent it from rolling first. The jack stands are essential to be able to safely work under the car without the risk of it falling on you.

2. Chock Your Wheels

Before you put the jack under your car, chock the two wheels opposite where you're working. So, if you're working on the front of the Lexus, chock both sides of one rear wheel so it can't roll forward or back. If you're raising up the rear, chock a front wheel. Wheel chocks are critical to the safety of the entire process, so be sure to use proper ones, and not rocks.

3. Locate Jacking Points

Before jacking up your Lexus, you need to identify the jack and jack stand points. There are usually seven spots that you can lift and secure your Lexus from, but the best location to jack up the front from is the center of the front crossmember in front of the oil pan. Be sure to never put a jack under the oil pan. When lifting the back, use the center of the rear axle beam. There are four jack stand points, all located on the frame rails. In front, there is one on each side of the frame rail just behind the front wheels, in the rear they are in front of the rear wheels. Consult your owners manual for more info.

4. Raise and Secure

With your jack in place, jack the car until you reach the desired height, then place your jack stands in place. Raise the jack stands so they are just below the frame rails, then gently lower the car so it rests on them. The car should be held in place by the jack stands, and not the jack. Once the car is secure on the jack stands, you can pump the jack just half a pump to assist in holding the car up, as long as the majority of the weight is on the jack stands.

5. Lower the Car

Lowering your Lexus is just the reverse of raising it. Raise it with the jack high enough so the jack stands are free, remove both jack stands from under the frame rails and away from the car, then gently lower the car until it's back on the ground. Before driving off, don't forget to remove the wheel chocks from under your wheels. You'd be surprised how often people forget this step.
