Judging by the attendance at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon, it's pretty clear that the LC 500 is the next big thing.

1. The Next Big Thing

The Lexus LC hasn't been on the market very long, but that hasn't stopped a rabid aftermarket from churning out parts for the halo coupe. It really shouldn't come as a surprise that the grand touring machine would be popular among tuners, despite its six-figure price tag, after all. This is a beautiful machine, one that should lend itself well as a blank canvas for the aftermarket to make even better.

2. Connecting the Dots

But when Speed Hunters descended on the Tokyo Auto Salon this year, they noticed a trend. Namely, tuners seem to love the LC. The annual show is usually a pretty good indicator of what direction the aftermarket is headed every year, both in tuning and styling trends. But it didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on this year. With a modified LC on virtually every corner, we can officially deem this Lexus the next big thing.

3. From Mild to Wild

The whole thing really began with Liberty Walk, a trendsetter that slapped a widebody kit on the LC post haste. But as awesome as that car turned out, there were plenty of other styling trends to be seen in Tokyo. From mild to wild, simple wheel swaps to full-on custom bodywork, pretty much any kit or modded LC you'd like to see was on display.

4. Rolling Showcase

Then again, it doesn't take much to make the LC look awesome. Throw on some coilovers and larger rolling stock to eliminate that unnecessarily excessive factory ride height, and you're in business. So many of the LCs on display in Tokyo was more like a showcase for aftermarket wheels. And even though it's still early, the choices already out there are pretty fantastic.

5. Standing Apart

The lines of the LC make it a perfect candidate for goodies like carbon fiber replacement body parts and custom paint schemes, too. Those dramatic lines look even more dramatic with just a little touch of color. Which, of course, should make this kind of treatment very popular among enthusiasts looking to differentiate themselves from the crowd even more.

6. Add Some Color

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the LCs in attendance at Tokyo is the fact that most of them were white. Sure, the coupe looks pretty great in this normally mundane shade, but we were digging on the few present in other hues, too. This sweet looking black LC, sporting Artisan Spirit's Black Label GT body kit, is about as menacing as they come.

7. VIP Treatment

Of course, no showing of modded Lexus vehicles would be complete without a slammed and stanced example. T-Demand worked its magic on this red LC, giving it a street-hugging stance any fan of VIP is sure to drool over. We imagine it won't be long before we see plenty of similarly slammed LCs lurking around some of our local car shows, even here in the states!
