Gordon Ting Does It Again With This Red Hot LC 500

The LC is a car that blends luxury and performance together into a package that is right up consumer's alley that fancy a Japanese grand tourer. However, this build from SEMA takes that performance and turns up some clicks to a more aggressive volume.

That's an astounding color

Gordon Ting looked at the LC 500 and didn't want to create some overdone ostentatious show car that would induce vomiting in the mouth of an enthusiast for SEMA. He took the platform that Lexus so lovingly designed, and made something that in his own words a better version. Basically taking a kitchen carving knife and turning it into a Michelin star chef's tool of choice wrapped in Avery Denison Supreme Satin Carmine Red.

Luxurious low life

The car sits lower thanks to a V3 coilover package from KW Suspension. We all now that lowered cars may way better with the more aggressive stance but they sure as hell aren't practical for real-world driving. That's why there is also a KW Hydraulic Lift System in place to tackle bothersome driveways and speed bumps. For this particular LC getting onto and off trailers is another factor in how important the lift system is.

Improved handling

The wheels come from tuner favs Volk Racing and are a set of the G25 forged series. The rubber wrapped around them are sticky Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tires. The stopping power was upgraded also courtesy of Brembo GT 6-piston calipers with 405 mm Type 3 rotors in the front and 4-piston calipers with 380mm Type 3 rotors in the rear.

A slight power bump

Gordon likes the 471 horsepower from the V8 so the engine itself wasn't touched but there are performance mods. For one, a GReddy Supreme SP exhaust system was fitted on the car to improve not just the note but also improves horsepower with a bit more power. The ten-speed transmission was also left alone as he was more than confident with the gear selection choices the ECU makes from the factory. While I respect the choice that Gordon made I can't help but wonder what this car would be like with a new hood and some boost added to that engine.

A fine place to pilot

On the exterior of the car, there are custom fenders from Evasive Motorsports for a widened stance and an Artisan Spirits five-piece carbon fiber lip kit. Along with those additions is a Voltex Racing custom carbon GT spoiler on the rear. What you can't see are the bolts that are holding the fenders on since they have been strategically hidden in order to better keep the luxury aspects of the car.

In the cabin, there are Sparco SPX carbon fiber adjustable race seats in place of the plush leather ones that were stock. While this solitary change could be disheartening to the normal tuner fan, the choice by Gordon and the Beyond Marketing team was one of "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
