Electric is Coming

It is apparent that Lexus has plans of bringing electric power to the masses in the near future. Head of Lexus Canada, Jennifer Barron recently told journalists that Lexus will be featuring a complete lineup of electrified vehicles by 2025. This plan would see Lexus introduce a complete range of full electric and hybrid-powered vehicles.

Leading the Industry

Toyota and Lexus are industry pioneers in electric and hybrid technology. The current lineups of both brands reflect that as well. The idea behind hybrid powertrains is giving the user significantly more fuel-efficient products, while also keeping the driving experience fun and engaging.

Hybrid is Best of 2 Worlds

In truth, hybrid powertrains not only provide a high level of efficiency in comparison to non-hybrid internal combustion cars, but there is also no compromise when it comes to performance. At the same time, driving hybrids is a more convenient option versus full-electric vehicles. The driving range and refueling restrictions with electric cars do not apply to hybrids.

Of course, in speaking about an electric near-term future, Lexus is including hybrid technology. The brand is projecting a future in which every car in the Lexus lineup has an electric variant. According to Lexus officials, the company is committed to delivering on that promise by the year 2025.

What About Fuel-Cell?

While an 'electrified' future sounds promising, we have to wonder if the exciting prospect of fuel-cell technology that parent company Toyota has been talking about has any place in the future of the company.

Is Electric the Way to go?

Unfortunately, at the moment, there are more questions than answers in regards to the company's plans with fuel-cell powertrains. Some sources claim that the corporation opting to focus on electric power shelves the development of fuel-cell for the foreseeable future. However, according to Lexus executives, the possibility of Lexus becoming the face of fuel-cell technology within the industry is not out of the question.
