1. A new market

To officially make its debut in India, the world's fastest growing major economy, Lexus decided to use the RX 450h, ES 300h, and LX 450d for ambassador duties. The two hybrids and diesel model will be offered through "guest experience centers" that are located in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Bangalore. As for the sales centers, they will be located in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi.

2. Straight from the VP's mouth

Lexus India Senior Vice President exclaimed that “How India experiences luxury is evolving with its affluence. Lexus will be providing the Indian consumer with an amazing experience through our vehicles, our service and through any interaction with our brand. We are excited about what we can bring to the luxury market in India, where we see opportunities mapped to the remarkable growth the country is experiencing.”

3. Another great interior

For the interior of the LX, Lexus created a sumptuously comfortable cabin that comes loaded with a moonroof, wireless charging for smartphones, and a heads up display. The infotainment center that sits nicely in the center console has a 12.3-inch touchscreen that controls a 19 speaker Mark Levinson audio system among other creature comforts. There is also a rear entertainment system, rear armrests that have climate controls, and some nice nifty ambient illumination.

4. Just two trims but both are great

Unfortunately for those in India curious about the LX, there are just two trims available to them: the 570 and 450d. However, the 450d does have a ton of things going for it so it's not a total bummer. The LX 450d has a 4,461 cc diesel V8 that puts out 261 bhp and a whopping 650 Nm of torque. The vehicle is 3.3 tons so it's not a ballerina by any measure but you already knew that. The SUV does do a bit of magic by being far agiler than it has any right to be. If Dynamic Driving is engaged drivers will find that it is them and not the SUV whose limitations will be put to the test. Putting the people mover into Eco mode or normal does put the LX into a slumber scenario where it will feel restrained and uninterested.

5. Keeping those around you and yourself safe

A really cool feature and one that will come in handy dealing with the large proportions of the LX are the four cameras that are positioned around the SUV. The cameras are mounted at the front, door mirrors, and the rear to give the driver a 360-degree-view of the outside world to make the most challenging maneuvers way easier.

6. More models to come

Lexus's parent company Toyota already has a major presence in India so it makes sense that the upper tier division of the company would follow for more affluent customers. Dealerships are accepting bookings for all three of the models being introduced but the LX 570 is arriving in very limited numbers that are most likely all spoken for. Eventually, the new 2018 LS sedan with all of its technological advancements will be brought over also.
