A Car Made to Love

A Lexus is a car you can fall in love with pretty easily. They wouldn't have earned such a cool reputation and loyal following if they couldn't back up the hype with real substance. Talking to enough other Lexus owners, you start to see a trend where many are customers for life. When their old Lexus begins to show its age, the idea of "switching over" to another brand nary crosses their mind.

Assuming markets are competitive and Lexus isn't the only great automaker out there, there must be something extra to keep these customers in the fold for so long. We think love could be that hidden ingredient. The reasons why someone could fall for Lexus are as vast and varied as the customers themselves. We'll go over some of those reasons today.

Legacy Attached

Contrary to what some people seem to think, the Lexus nameplate represents more than a car, more than a company, more than a lifestyle. It can be seen as all those things well enough, but at this point, that jagged pie-shaped "L" stands for a storied history of innovation. Lexus has a lot of "firsts" under its belt: the first LED low-beams, the first eight-speed auto transmission are two that first come to mind. Perhaps most interesting of all, they were the first automaker to create a luxury car with a hybridized powertrain.

Despite being one of the "younger" major brands, Lexus already has a strong legacy as worthy of love as anything else. Lexus cars are at the forefront of technology and still manage to make it seem effortlessly cool while they're at it. Driving one means that you're a living part of that legacy.

Balance Without Compromise

Despite what those "on the outside" seem to believe, Lexus cars are a hell of a lot of fun to drive. The compact design and right handling can give a Lexus sedan that sense of joyous liberation people typically go to sports cars for. What is love, after all, if not something that makes you feel young again?

It's What's on the Inside

While a Lexus will always make sure it's got you covered with looking good in public, it's another thing to be inside of it. Lexus does not take the concept of luxury lightly. As with any love story, it's ultimately what's on the inside that matters most-- but good looks are a nice bonus on top of that!

Lexus Sparks the Imagination

Anyone who has seen Stephen Spielberg's Minority Report should remember the "Lexus 2054." Tom Cruise's character spends a good portion of his career as a fugitive in the sleek "what-if" interpretation of Lexus several decades down the line. Better still, it actually looks believable as a Lexus; the smooth contours look exactly like something to come with a mid-century spindle grille.

The movies have had a long-running history with cars and the way they're perceived by the public, and a love for an imagined Lexus could easily translate into a relationship with one in real-life. In the case of one car outfitter, the love for Lexus 2054 was enough to create a real-life replica. The seller marked this future Lexus for $95,000. That's a fair bit higher than the typical Lexus nowadays, but considering rates of currency inflation, by 2054 standards that'd probably be the price of a used sofa, so we can't complain too much.

We don't need to claim the pink slip to this beaut to appreciate it in any case. For whatever reputation Lexus has as a "stuffy" brand, there's something about it that sparks the imagination.

A Friend for the Future

In everything from the proud legacy, to the fascinating "what-ifs", to the way it simply feels to drive, it appears as though Lexus has got past, present and future nailed down with class and ease. You don't need to rely on a movie to see a promising future for Lexus either. Between their recent emphasis on hybrid technologies and the expectation of fresh technologies on the way, Lexus is happy to provide ample reason why you should throw all in with them for the long run. Like any true love, you can expect them to keep surprising you well into the years you'll spend together.
