All New Version of the ES 300h Launches in India

Notably different design

It’s clear that Lexus designers and engineers wanted to develop and evolve the design of the new Es from its previous generations. Aside from the overall improvements to the mechanics of the car, the styling is also bolder than the previous two models. Additionally, the Lexus ES 300h is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessors and features a longer wheelbase too.

Improved power

Taking a look under the hood, the Lexus ES300h's hybrid powertrain is outfitted with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder motor that is mated to an electric system. The combined horsepower comes in at 215 BHP which is 15 more than its predecessor. The powertrain is mated to an 8-speed gearbox.

Good marks on performance

The ES model featured in India is available only with a hybrid powertrain. Fuel economy is rated at an impressive 22.37 KMPL (about 53 MPG). It’s also worth pointing out that the ES300h is Euro 6 compliant and in terms of safety, the ES300h gets 10 airbags and a host of electronic passive driver aids.

Taking a look inside

Lexus has created a very unique cabin experience in the ES300h. The company’s Takumi craftsmanship is noticeable with subtle touches like Shimamoku wood combined with light bamboo which, in turn, is complemented by several types of imperial upholstery and handcrafted materials. There is a massive 12.3-inch screen at the front, as well as mounted climate and audio controls along with adjustable and heated semi-aniline seats. In addition, the car comes complete with a 17-speaker Mark Levinson Pure Play system.

Final thoughts

The 300h is priced slightly higher in comparison to its direct competition such as Audi, Mercedes Benz, and BMW. Fortunately, Lexus has come out with a worthwhile vehicle here and should compete well in the market.
