1. Big Hybrid Power

The Lexus LS 600h was the world's first full hybrid V8 at launch in 2010.

2. Navigation Station

The Lexus LS 400 was the first car in the world to have satellite navigation fitted as standard way back in 1998.

3. More Power every Hour

The Lexus RC-F is the first front engine/rear-wheel drive sports car to feature a Torque-Vectoring Differential. It uses a series of multi-plate clutches in order to shuffle torque between each of the rear wheels as needed.

4. Down with Noise

The Lexus CT 200h was the first car to be awarded the Quiet Mark award which is the recognition from the Noise Abatement Society for its improved aural environment contribution.

5. Safety First

The second generation of the IS became the first car in the world to be fitted with a twin-chamber front passenger airbag, enabling greater projection to the neck and shoulders in an impact.

6. Audiophiles Rejoice

The Lexus NX 300h is the first car in the industry to feature Clari-Fi, a technology that analyzes and improves the audio quality of all types of compressed, digitalized music sources.

7. Future Lasers

Lexus was the first automotive manufacturer to use laser screw welding in production. This means that laser beams are used to make perfect spot welding around panels for the maximum fitment and body stiffness. This begun on the current Lexus LS.

8. Better Use of Power

VVT-iE was the very first electronically controlled, variable valve timing system on the intake camshafts. It was hooked up to the fourth-gen LS 460 back in 2007. The previous model came with a hydraulically activated system that monitored the full spectrum of engine speed and temperature. This new electronic system continually monitors the timing of a valve lift in a combustion engine to improve performance.

9. Better Daytime Driving

The third-gen LS 430 was the first car to feature a low reflection windscreen for safe driving when heading towards the sun. A special coating was applied to the windshield to help cut down on glare in bright sunlight which comes in handy especially when your interior dash is lightly colored.
