2. It needed to be perfect

3. Paul McCartney was given a special one

In appreciation of the singer songwriter and his efforts with promoting the RX hybrid vehicles, he was given a special car. Back in 2008 Lexus wanted to give McCartney a car that reflected his concerns about global warming and his decision to become vegan. He was given an LS600h that had no leather whatsoever and ultra low emissions. Rumor has it that McCartney was disappointed in Toyota due to the carbon footprint left by flying the car to him instead of shipping it by boat.

5. Only the finest cows

Lexus cares about their occupants and the materials that go into their cars are to be only the best available. In that vein, when it comes to leather, Lexus will only use hides from cows that live on farms absent of barb wire fences. The brand is so strict about this due to the barbed wire permanently scarring the leather. On another note, in many Lexus hybrids, you'll find a synthetic leather called Nuluxe that is environmentally-friendly.
