1.The LF-FC concept vehicle

It was introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2015 as a means of showcasing the direction Lexus was going in terms of design and technology. The design was created as a preview for what could be in store for the upcoming LS model.  The car is the first ever fuel cell concept for the brand which means it is a vehicle that will convert chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction!

2. It embodies Lexus’ ‘L-finesse” design philosophy

Described as “aggressively elegant”, the car is designed in the spirit of a grand touring vehicle. A new Lexus spindle-shaped grille sits at the front, complete with chainmail-esque mesh while floating “L-shaped” daytime running lights extrude from the front renders. The rear lights, it’s worth noting, use the same floating theme as the front. 21-inch aluminum wheels with carbon fiber reinforced plastic rims add extra flair to the look of the vehicle.

3. The LF-FC features a futuristic cabin

The interior is split into two sections -- top and bottom. The top part gives a sense of openness, so as to allow the driver to focus on the road without feeling constrained. The rear seats, meanwhile, are specially designed for those who enjoy being driven. They feature a reclining option with plenty of head and knee space. Drivers can settle into the joy of driving inside a wrap-around cockpit that sports dual bucket seats in the rear of the vehicle. If you look closely, the front seats appear to be floating in place magically.

4. It offers the most advanced technological options

The Lexus LF-FC features an advanced human-machine interface that can be operated using hand signals, and without having to touch a panel or controls for the ventilation system. A small holographic image on the center of the console lets the driver or passenger control such options as the audio system and ventilation with simple hand gestures.

5. The LF-FC uses a fuel cell

The big sell for this car is a high output fuel cell power system. It energizes the rear wheels, and send power to two in-wheel motors on the front; this makes the car an all-wheel drive vehicle. This unique system allows precise torque distribution control between both sets of wheels which, in turn, gives the full-size sedan excellent handling and superior road stability. In this concept example, the fuel cell is used to power the rear wheels while the dual in-wheel motors give power at the front, thusly making all-wheel-drive.
