4. First Generation RX 300

Being a courier requires a bit a money management in order to maximize the total profits garnered from a trip. This can mean anything from buying an older used vehicle to finding one with a solid fuel economy capability. The first generation RX 300 is a perfect example, that combines the reliability of Lexus, in an affordable package. Inside there's two rows of seating with the rear being foldable, as well as 37.8 cubic feet of trunk space. It's from the older generation, so fuel consumption is still relatively high, averaging around 20 mpg combined. But probably the most powerful buying point is the upfront costs. You can pick up one of these bad boys for under four grand.

Bottom Line: If you're looking for the easiest point of entry for a reliable delivery car then you can't beat this one.

3. RX400H (XU30)

Another cost effective approach, the XU30 RX 400H hybrid manages to remove the issues the of fuel consumption, increase storage size and give more power utilizing a 4WD system. Since these vehicles are a bit older you can get your hands on one for under $12,000. In terms of fuel economy, drivers should experience a combined average of 29 MPG while driving this car. Inside the seats fold up to allowing up to 84.7 cubic feet of load capacity. Also, since it's a relatively late model, expect more interior technology than its predecessors, such as an infotainment system and additional monochrome navigational display on the instrumental panel. It terms of reliability, many of these models have reached well over 200,000 miles and continue to run. An excellent choice for anyone looking for delivery jobs.

2. Lexus GX Series

Although not known as the crowd favorite, the Lexus GX still has some notable traits that make it a pretty good vehicle for a courier to have. While technically considered a mid-sized SUV, it still manages to seat seven. That coupled with its four-wheel-drive off-road capabilities, does help make it stand out. In terms of interior storage, the newer models with seats folded down give a total of 64.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Unfortunately, its big V8 engine and heavy size make for a fairly low MPG rating. Driver’s should expect approximately 15 to 20 MPG, on a good day. These fuel numbers are seen to be fairly constant across the board for each generation of the Lexus GX. In terms of reliability, these vehicles are built on par to Toyota’s standards and have been seen to be very reliable, receiving a score of 5/5 from J.D Power and Associates.

Bottom Line:

The GX is for those that need a lot of room and can utilize it 4WD offered capabilities.
