1. What is the Lexus SC?

In case you’re unfamiliar, Lexus SC is a grand tourer that Lexus produced between 1991 and 2010. The ‘400’ model featured in this slideshow is considered a first-generation model. Off the line, it featured a V8-powered (1UZ-FE) engine. Since then, numerous other models have been produced, making the model that the Sung brothers worked on a pretty rare find.

2. Updates to the body

Over the five years that the Sung Brothers worked on their SC 400, they went through two body kits. For the first go-round, the car was outfitted with a BN Sports’s Type 2 kit and it sported that look for two years. Then the brothers opted to update the kit to the newer “Blister Full Widebody kit,” giving the vehicle an immediate, aggressive look that also made it immediately magazine-worthy.

3. Updates to the exterior

When the Sung Brothers updated the body of the vehicle with the new Blister kit, they also opted to give it a “super white” paint job that made it really stand out on the road. Additionally, the car was adjusted vis-à-vis an all-new Air Lift 3H air suspension as well as all new tires: 19×10.5? front, 19×12? rear Work Meister L1 wheels; 235/35R19 front, 285/30R19 rear Toyo T1 tires, both of which vastly improved the car’s handling. Two other worthwhile updates: a nifty looking Rocket Bunny 350Z spoiler and OG custom headlights and JDM taillights.

4. Updates to the interior

While this car is a blend between performance and luxury, the interior is all about performance. And the brothers invested mightily into outfitting the car’s innards with world-class components and parts. Immediately catching the eye are the pair of bride seats, Cusco rollcage and Takata harnesses. Translation: Get in. Buckle up. Get ready to lose your lunch. Finer touches include a Vertex steering wheel, Bay Country Custom Upholstery’s supremely well-appointed alcantara interior, as well as subtle carbon-fiber trim.

5. And finally…the engine

As mentioned at the beginning of the slideshow, the first generation SC 400’s rolled out of the Lexus facilities with a V8-powered (1UZ-FE) engine in its bay. Well, obviously, the Sung brothers did away with that and instead went with a Toyota-built 2JZ-GTE engine instead. For those unfamiliar, this beast of a motor features an inline layout, six cylinders, dual overhead camshaft. It is air-intercooled and twin-turbocharged, built on a cast-iron block and is outfitted with aluminum cylinders. Toyota produced these engines between 1991 and 2002 in Japan, making this a period-perfect performance upgrade.
