Waxing Rims?
 

Well, I have read it protects and helps but I just want to make sure. Heck, wax gets in every crevice and spave and I want to make sure 4hrs of work is really worth it?

WHo does it and how often? (Get your minds out the gutter).

Waxing your wheels will make cleaning them much easier. Make sure and use a good sealant, however, that will withstand higher temperatures (carnubas are pretty much useless on wheels). I personally use Zaino, because I have quite a bit of it laying around.

I don't know if I would use a sealant on non-clearcoated wheels though...a good metal polish would suffice there I would think.

Sick, I put a coat of Meguiars polish and then wax I had laying around on my Blitz's. I ahven't noticed that the wax has come off b/c they are still easy to clean (can never get the water of the enormous lip :mad: ) Anyways, I would tell you to do it b/c I'm sure it helps w/ those almost invisible scratches only you can see.

1sicklex, Trust me, use zaino Z2, let it dry, wipe off and for the finishing touch, spray some Z6 on it. Your wheels are going to look amazing. I also notice less brake dust and easier to clean dirt after I am done with zaino.

i do that...good result...make sure the wax does not have dust particles

How do u know if there clearcoated? I have a set of i forged. I never specified to have them cleared or n e thing. If i put wax on them will that mees up the finish? i know if u put chrome polish on alloys it will leave milky stains.

Clearcoated wheels are usually really smooth...it looks very similar to your car's paint in appearance. Sorry I can't be more descriptive, maybe someone else can chime in and help.

I also clay my clearcoated wheels from time to time...makes them real smooth and helps get those tiny specs off that often get embedded into the wheels. I'd probably recommend you wash, clay, and then use a good sealant on your wheels 1SICKLEX. :thumbup:

Does anyone happen to know if the polished SportDesign wheels (2003 model) are safe for waxing? Also, by "waxing" we're talking polymer-type (Zaino, e.g.), not Carnuba, right? I've read that Carnuba wax will melt under the high heat from the brakes.

In the past I have used Turtle Wax Chrome Polish on my chrome wheels, but I am not sure what to use on my Dronnels

Any good synthetic wax will work. Just stick away from the carnubas as 500amg said.

Most of those attract dust like crazy, and the last thing you want is 5 metric tons of break dust glued to your wheels even worse than normal. ;)
