Michelin Pilot Sport vs. Pilot Sport A/S
 

The time has come to dump the runflats after 20,000 miles and it is clear from comments on this forum that Michelin Pilot Sport tires are the way to go. However what is the choice between regular MPS tires and the MPS A/S? Live in NY City (lucky or unfortunate depends on your point of view) and put the car up after Thanksgiving and take it out of the garage late in April. In winter I run a Subaru Forester.

Once in a while we have an early or late snowfall but last year, for instance, I never drove the SC in snow. There is plenty of rain, however.

So is the All Season superior as a rain tire? I rather doubt it, but would like to hear what people think.

I would check with Tire Rack if I were you. I live in So. Florida, which also gets heavy rain, and the Meineke dealer that installed my Michelin Pilot Sports steered me away from the A/S. He felt the Sports would be fine in rain, and I believe he said they had a little smoother ride.

The MPS A/S are getting much higher ratings than the MPS. The A/S are excellent tires as far as stock sizes go.

I put regular MPS's on a few weeks ago and they are cosiderably noisier than expected. They are acceptable for now though. They aren't LOUD but noisier than stock 16's. They stick like glue. The A/S seem to have better reviews as far as quietness goes.

This is true I just had my MPS A/S installed today and it feels like a LS. It holds the road a lot better than I expected:thumbup:
