How thick is powdercoating?

I'm planning to powdercoat my brake calipers.......but I only got about 1mm left between my front calipers and the spokes of my wheels. So, does anybody know how thick is the powdercoat? I might have to trim my calipers a little but i don't think that's a good idea though.

How about having them polished?

Here is one from a second gen LS:

The calipers may be from an LS but the car is not. ;)

As for the image attachments, it is a known problem that the techs are looking at. Linking pics from the gallery or otherwise (like what you did) works fine though.

Maybe we can get a good price for a deal for two.
BTW.....do u know anywhere that can tear apart the calipers and then rebuild them?

The second gen LS 4-piston calipers are a little different from LS430's. Mine calipers have bigger & flatter surface which will look better then the UCF20/21 calipers once they get powdercoated........real nice.....

Atsou-

I think gold is a nice color for the calipers. A powder coating site I just saw stated a 25-60 micron thickness...I have no idea how thick that is. How about a Type II anodizing?

When I was wandering the GS forum and saw that LS400 caliper polished out. I thought those were :woohoo: Yeah, a bit flashy. I couldn't imagine using a die grinder to clean the caliper up like that. That is some work.

jtanoyo1 has the LS430 monoblocks on his GS.
Wish I could find that thread and pics. :(

you would have to take apart the calipers yourself. it's not hard to do. i got quoted $50 for all four calipers powdercoated a while back. this is for same day service.

LS430 calipers... drool.... :woohoo:

Eric-

Here we go: one thousandths of an inch = 25.4 microns.
