Anyone running Sumitomo HTRZ II ?

I noticed the tirerack has a pretty sweet deal on the Sumitomo HTRZ II in the 245/35/20 size right now ($160) and was wondering about the ride quality of these tires? They have a pretty nice tread pattern too Any help would be appreciated.

I recently got a set of these. So far, I've only put on the Sumitomos on the front. They replaced my Pirelli p7000's. The ride seems to be a lot better...smoother, quieter. I don't know if it's becuase the Pirellis sucked or because I needed balancing or what. But so far, I'm happy with them. I still have Kumho's in the rear though, so my assessment isn't complete. My new Sumitomos for the rear are still sitting in my garage.

Tires

Very smooth riding tire and the tread looks great . You will have a softer riding tire that most. Mileage around 15K - 20K but at that price who cares. One thing to note, the belts on two of the tires (same axle) started to separate around 15K. Don't know if this was an unusual situation or not. Overall, I would buy again but with caution.

I have been buying the 17" ones for several years now. They perform every bit as good as the poleposition SO2's that I used to buy at 3 times the cost. They even last longer in my opinion, They are decent in the rain but I do recomend restraint on wet roads, even damp.

If the 20's are anything lilke the 17's you wont be dissapointed.

Sumitomo

They are DOT approved or we wouldn't sell them.

They are a good value oriented option and a decent tire in my opinion.

not for me

i hate them and always get high roadforce numbers on my roadforce machine, in fact i am a tirerack wholesale account but i refuse to sell that brand, toyo and nitto all the way for me, no customer complaints with those

What is roadforce ?

blueGS400 07-29-04 08:38 PM

roadforce is a balance machine that matches a high spot in the tire with a low spot on the wheel to get a more perfect circle, thus creating a smoother ride, some products cant be helped much though, like sumitomo's on my opinion, sorry just too many bad experiences ruined this tire for me

Thanks for the info, maybe it is just an issue with certainn size tires. Go figure.
