yeah, i know..from my yrs here at CL, my conclusion is that on the SC/rf sensor, you can still use aftermarket wheels, but the sensor will probably not work...

Will,
The sensors do not work on the Euroline LS thus I am not using them.. Dealership figured out a way to disable the light and sound indicator (Pushed them for more info but they won't tell me how they did it).. I don't drive all that far in the SC so if I do get a flat i'll just call Lexus Roadside Assistance and I have a can of tire sealant just in case..
Hope that helps!!

HRE's 540 series accept the Corvette, Mercedes, Nissan, and Lexus run-flat sensors as a bolt-in installation (I should know, I figured out how to make them work through some creative machining on the outer rims). We do this VERY often- the C5 Corvette is our most popular vehicle application.
On the "reverse" type rims like these Rays and the HRE "R" series wheels, an OE run-flat sensor can be mounted to the rim barrel with the installation of a stainless steel band/clamp. I have done this several times on Lexus & other vehicles (David "Lex Luth" has them on his HRE 547Rs / SC430), and it works great.
The SC430 essentially has the capability to 'understand' two different sets of sensors- this way, you could run a 'winter' set of wheels, and still have a functioning system. The dealers know how to program the computer for this feature, but you must purchase a second set of run-flat sensors (about $110-$120 each) and note the color code of each sensor and which wheel that sensor is mounted on so the dealer can do his thing. Effectively, the computer thinks your shiny aftermarket wheels are your 'winter' wheels.
HRE has these sensors (we can make them for 17",18",19", 20", and 22" wheel diameters) and will sellthem to the general public for $12.50 each (you'll need four), a reasonable price in my opinion.
But I'm not here to sell you sensor bands- only to educate. If anyone has questions, feel free to contact me anytime

Bob,
Do you mean the bands for $12.5 or the sensors themselves for that price. Again I just want to say thanks to Bob for the info he has provided me about his sale, and the senor issues. I just am
on the fence about this amount of money. I have known to trade
in cars quicker than anyone I know, so the investment in wheels
makes me think long and hard about such a purchase. It has nothing to do with how good a deal this or that is. You know what happenens when to try to sell an expensive item know one
cares what you paid, you end up taking a huge hit. I will
have to really weigh the pros and cons in doing this. I'm not a
rich man but I do know quality.
