for me it depends on the car, the camber, the tire gap (hopefully zero), and the entire flow of it.
it the only mod on the car is wheels then i say reverse big lips.
if the car is mod heavy and looks the part then step lip FTW!!!
preference on lip sizes is big but not jumbo. something between 4-6",, again all about the flow of the car and finished product. if its an aggressive build theme then 6+ but if it is classy and elegant then maybe 4-4.5"

I agree with Sojah. It all depends on the build. The lip sizes I've been running lately range from 4-5
inches. But I just wanna go bigger every time. For my next set I want to have at least a 5 inch up front.

I had a somewhat bad experience when picking out a set of high dollar rims i wouldnt like to repeat. Saw a set of trafficstars that looked awesome on the show car in a super low offset. By the time i had em on my car with a lot more conservative offsets it just wasnt even the same look, non tucked and the spoke ratio just seemed off with the weak offsets. Just plan and do homework/research beforehand and you should have nice finished product.

as far as lip sizes it's all gonna come down to brake clearance, fender work , tire stretch and how much suspension work you're willing to do to get the look you want to achieve. like what everyone else mentioned certain face styles look better on a step, some look better on a reverse. only downfall of step lip wheels are that they're harder to repair if the bend goes into the step.
