Default Whats your take on chrome pillars?

Just wanted to hear back from you guys on whats your opinion on chrome pillars for the 2GS. I'm really on the fence with this one. Sometimes I think it looks OK and other times I think its a little overboard. What do you guys think?

My car is onyx black BTW

The only one that looks ok is the Prussian Blue GS.

i like them on cars with colored/no tint. on black tint i think it looks better w/o (or maybe carbon fiber).

No, pillars should stay the colour they are.

Its about the execution. There is no right or wrong answer on this one since they look horrible on most cars and great on others. Its all about how far you are willing to go to get the rest of the car to look good around the chrome pillars

I like them (and have them) only because of the chrome trim around the windows. I think it finishes it off nicely.
I wouldn't have them with the chrome door handles. Too much for me.

Like others have said, it depends on the overall look. Chrome is never intended to be overdone. Also, chrome pillars look very subtle without tint. Again, a good example is the maroon AutoFashion GS by pimprascal. It goes well with that sick car!!! Illness!!!

Ya I know what you mean. It dont plan to go overboard like others how put chrome accents on everything. Theres cars in my area that have chrome, fender trim, headlights and taillights bezels, pillars, handles, vents, door trim and this is all one 1 car LOL

I was also debating the JDM OEM Aristo Carbon pillars but I dont know how I feel about them.

IMO the chrome door handles would be good.

Chrome trunk bar also, but the pillars make it too much.

But if your car was white, all three would make the car
really stand out.

If I ever do the door handles it will be the handle part only and not the whole assembly. Like so

I think if the car is black and the whole door handle assembly is chrome it stands out too much

Depending on the picture, the effect will be seen.

In the picture, the GS has way to many chrome products. Like the tail lights, bit on the sides etc...

The reason why the full chrome door handles look to much is because of the
chrome pillars. The effect stands out more. Your eye follows from the focal point down (in this case would be the upper half of the car), making the pillars complement the door handles. Giving the door handles a greater effect.

But now if you take the chrome pillars out, and have the chrome door handles you get something like this:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...998-gs300.html

(Intended for pics...)

Which looks sick...

But if you think it doesn't look nice, then go for the overlays.

Just giving you what I think. With a bit of reasoning.

Well no doubt that car looks very nice but to me it still looks like a big chunk of chrome. On a white car it think it could pull it off no problem because its a bright color. But on a black car I think it pops out too much.

But I wont be going with chrome overlay door handles. I will actually be getting the JDM chrome door handles and disassemble them and use only the handle part into my factory handles

Cool; that will be one good DIY task.

Yea I agree; my GS is white and have quite a bit of chrome (JP pillars, JDM door handles, trunk bar, and rims). Chrome and White go very well together.

white and chrome do go well together. with chrome rims or anything that makes it pop, adding chrome on the pillars would take away from it. i like the slight chrome window trim for this reason. its subtle, but keeps up with the look. on a completely different note, i really like the blue of the side mirrors.
