Question Illuminated Door Sills - always on?

I ordered some illuminated door sills online and just had them installed at Lexus in my UX250h. I assumed they would light up when I open the door and then turn off when the door closes, however I noticed that they were still lit up the entire time I was driving. Is that the way they're supposed to be? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!

That's how mine work, lit 100% of the time. I'm sure they could be wired to be disabled when the door is closed by tapping into the puddle light on the door itself. Nothing too difficult. The door puddle light easily pops out to expose the wires and the wires are all color coded, so tracing them back to where they enter the door and run under the dash would only take a few interior panels to be removed. Simple then to tap into the switched power source and make the door sill lights switch on/off with door open/closed.

Great, thank you so much for that info! It made me very nervous that a battery was going to be drained or that they weren't installed correctly. But it sounds like I don't have anything to worry about. I absolutely love the way they look – they add such a nice flare.

Not fully correct.

Ignition off - Mine are off as long as door is closed, if you unlock the car and open the doors, they'll turn on, and then turn off once the car is re-locked.

Ignition on - Mine are on when obviously lights are on inside/out, when in Park. When it shifts to Drive, they turn off, and then vice versa with going into Park again.

I hadn't really paid attention after the installation except I saw that they were on while I was driving. They turn on when the door opens just like the overhead light, then after I close the door they eventually turn off when the overhead light turns off, then on again once I start the car. As long as they don't drain the battery I'm ok with it! Just not what I was expecting.

You're good to go. The UX is actually prewired to accept these, so whomever that installed them- there's really no wrong way to screw them up.

Enjoy.
