auto-headlights not working
I had my windshield re-tinted due to some issues, in any event. I noticed since then, when at night, my auto headlights (NOT auto-high beams) do not work at all when in that position. They worked perfectly fine prior to this. Unfortunately I have no way to prove this to the shop when I call them in the morning... so I am trying my best to diagnose.
Nothing is blocking the sensor, and if there was, obviously the lights would remain on. The problem is the opposite, when in the Auto mode on the light stalk, the lights do not turn on. all other lights function fine. My headlights/fogs only turn on when manually switched to the On position, but do NOT work on Auto. I've checked the auto sensitivity and all the 'settings' within the multimedia interface in our car, everything is normal.
I tried to unplug the negative terminal battery with some success but couldn't get the positive terminal out, was attempting to do a reset of the battery to see, but it got stuck, so gave up as it was like 30 degrees out tonight. Bad idea too because when I plugged the negative back in, the car switched itself (it was completely off) to Ignition mode, but not on. And then I couldn't close my trunk. I had to close it manually, and then Start the car, shut it off, and then get it to close (the trunk). Everything after that worked as it did prior to disconnecting the negative terminal, but just no auto-headlights still. No warning lights on the dash.
I do not notice any damage around the sensor but it's dark out but with what I could see, nothing was there. I doubt even if the workers who reapplied the windshield tint had some spray on the dash (it's covered in a mat as it is so... this is to me, unlikely), that it would be enough to where something in that sensor got damaged.
HELP (?)
