Anyone know of a good roof basket that will fit the factory cross bars?

Renamed the thread as this will be a very informative one for UX owners considering the smallish cargo capacity.

Personally, I'm looking at Cargo Box options, something not too big to not "dwarf" the UX.

Default Cargo box

That's a good looking box! What size is it? Small, medium or large? I understand it's from racktrip.com but what brand is it?

Love the matching color. Looks very seamless.

@corradoMR2 Nice looking setup! I am in the market for UX250 and very close to purchasing one, however, since there is no hitch for our ski carrier, I am looking to use a cargo box for our family ski trips (we carry 4 pairs in total) and I think a cargo box will solve our issues. However, I am bit concerned about the wind noise and would love to hear your first hand experience with the RackTrip cross bar and box in regards to wind noise.

Also, which box did you go with? Our skis are around 180 cms long so we are not quite sure which box would fit and look as nice as yours. Knowing the size you used will be of great help!.

Thanks all and looking forward to joining the community (once I sort out cargo box/no hitch availability conondrum).

Thanks and welcome to the forum!

Wind noise is negligible with just the cross bars but is more noticeable with the cargo box on. You hear a bit of wind buffeting above your head but not loud or annoying to me and passengers by any means.

The box I got is the 500L / 17.5 cuft. For your skis you'd need the 560L/20 cuft model which states it will carry 185cm long skis. https://racktrip.com/product/cargobox-large

Happy shopping!

Thanks.
Considered "Medium" size.
It's a generic brand. 17.5 cuft / 500L

Quality is not the best but good and so far no issues 1 year and a half later though I do have it stored inside most of the time.

Thanks! I was lucky to find a vinyl wrap blue that matches nearly identically to USB 2.0.

Nice set up!
Can you share what kind of cross bar it is? (perhaps a link?)

Thanks!

I'm considering the same box. How have you found this to work? Does it hang over the front much and are you able to open the hatch? Thanks!

It hangs over the front by a few inches, nothing drastic, if you stick your head up from inside the cabin and look up, you'll see it stick out just a hair, but doesn't obstruct anything. There's clearance to open the hatch at the highest setting.

That's great info, thanks! Overall, are you happy with the box?

Yep, fits our two snowboards, helmets, backpacks, boots and all that in the box. Haven't used it for much else but there was room to spare for sure.
