Default 2008 ISF - Yokohama S Drive vs. Continental DWS 06

I just bought the car and it needs new tires all around. I don't track it or anything so I think the Michelin PSS may be overkill. Anyone have any experience with either the S drives or DWS 06's? Thanks!

I have had DWS06 on my ISF for about 9 months (10,000 miles + 2 track days). Previously I had the Michelin A/S 3's (lasted 17,000 miles + 1 track day). The Michelins had better dry traction but the wet traction was just OK. They are downright dangerous in the snow. I also have them on my 2002 IS300 (now my duagher's car) and after 8,000 miles they slide all over in even a dusting.
The Contis give up a little in dry traction (2 track days - yes I know they are all seasons) but pick up better wet traction. We have not really had any snow this year in Ohio so I cannot comment on snow traction. But rain and cold traction are very good. Much more solid than the Michelins. I honestly feel they are the best all-season choice out there. I would assume they are not near the dry performance of the PSS but if you're not tracking, they will meet your needs.

Thanks for the info. I don't do track days, and we get quite a bit of rain here in FL so wet traction is important. I may give the contis a try. I had S Drives on my S2000 and they were great.

I forgot to comment on the miles per set. Am I crazy to expect over 20k miles on any set of tires on the ISF?

I usually get 15,000 to 20,000 on any tire - summer, all season, winter for my ISF or my IS300. But I think that is because I always buy the high performance version of tires and my "spirited" driving...lol. And I've been through many, many sets of tires.

Just saw that the S drives are summer tires. Note that the DWS are all seasons.
Being in Florida...you probably don't need the Conti DWS (dry/wet/snow).
If you can find them, the Conti DW tires (no-"S") are on big discount (half the price of PSS) and are a summer tire with top notch wet traction. (See tire rack reviews).
However, they are currently being replaced with the Conti ExtremeContact Sport tire which is due out in March.
I'm holding out for those or the PS4 (successor to the PSS) which just came out (and is pricey).

I also have a 2008 with stock wheels and upsized to 245/35-19 in front and 275/30-19 in rear. Much meatier tires.

Awesome...it looks like the Conti DW's are really inexpensive now. I'll probably give those a shot this time! I appreciate all your help. How do you like your Joe Z exhaust? I just picked one up second hand and had it installed. I think it sounds great!

DW's may be hard to find, so good luck. Had the Joe Z for 2 years now and absolutely love the sounds...

Ended up finding a set of Continental DW's...they are great. Very happy. Oversized the rears to 275 and went stock up front. The grip compared to the Kuhmo's I bout it with is much improved. Thanks for the suggestions!
