Toyo Proxes 4
so at about 24K my rear oem dunlops are done, wear bars are showing and all i thought about Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, but came across some Toyo Proxes 4 for a better price my cousin that does alot of tracking says toyo is on par with michelin in quality and performance, although michelin edges a bit performance wise, but for the price of toyo and the tires he goes through, he prefers toyo. so whats ur input?

I'm rolling with the Toyo Proxes 4's right now. Bout 8K miles on em so far.
My thoughts - decent tire for an A/S.
honestly, the Michelin may give you perhaps 5-10% more 'performance' - wet/dry traction ect... they would by no means transform your IS or anything compared to the Toyo's
The Michelins would be a tad bit more quiet (although the proxes 4's are pretty quiet themselves).
All that comes at a premium and a sacrafice as well though. The Michelins will cost you an arm and a leg (premium), and there are VERY limited size choices (sacrifice), especially if your rolling on 19's like I am. Proxes 4's come in straight silly tire size options!
The Proxes 4's give you just about every single size you could want.
Proxes 4
Pros: decent overall wet/dry grip, tons of sizes to choose from, soft/comfy ride, price point-inexpensive
Cons: like i said, decent overall wet/dry grip - these aren't going to be like a summer tire or anything. I'm overall happy with the performance.
Michelin A/S Plus
Pros: slightly better wet/dry grip, slightly more quiet ride
Cons: price-expensive, slim pickin's tire choices, like I said only slightly better performance
I talked to the guys at 1010tires.com (they sell both) and they said that the Michelins are a better tire, but not by much...
Me... well like I said, I'm rollin on the Toyo Proxes 4's.

the first set of tires i bought were toyo's, from NTB. apparently they were zip tied and stored on the shelf for too long and the bead of the tire was all worped. then they had to order some "fresher" ones for me. the installed them, and they bubbled really fast, fell apart, all around ****ty tires. your experience may be nothing like mine, but i will never go back to toyo's. i got falken's right now, lil cheaper than toyo's, but better than khumo's. discount tire's ebay store has tires for the low, and you can still buy the road hazard warranty from them that way. just fyi

What I want to know is how well would the proxes 4 perform after having 50% of thread life left. I got the S-Drive a year ago, now it's down to 50% thread life. Wearing is pretty even 5 and 32 seconds on the inner and outter edge and 7 in the middle. Now it's at 50%, noise is starting to get loud, ride is ok, vibration less or to little. I too, would like to switch over to proxes 4. I always was debating to get proxes 4 or not.
Anyone have experience with Proxes 4 after 50% thread life would like to share? Could these tires last for 2 years?

Excellent thread! I was also thinking on getting Toyo Proxes 4's as a replacement for my OEM tires... I'm at 34k and my fronts are done... my rears have another ~6 months left in them i believe...
Goodyear near me in SoCal gave me an OTD price of $275 for everything for the front two tires. Pretty damn good compared to other options out there.
