Default Fat set up or not - conflicting info

Hello Everybody

I have not posted on these great forums for a long time. I notice some familiar names but many new enthusiasts as well. It looks as though I will be purchasing some Iforged wheels for my 2nd gen. GS400. My car has many suspension modifications including the teinCS coilovers. I am currently riding on OEM 17" chromes but as I will be needing new tires soon I decided to get new wheels as well. I have always loved one particular wheel style and this is the one that I will be purchasing the Iforged Classics staggered set up 19x8.5 and 19x10. My main question is will the "fat set up" 245/40 and 275/35 rub in any way with the car lowered (within CS limits). In speaking with some of the members they say yes and some suppliers and members say no. If anybody has this set up please chime in. I am considering the fat set up more for the ride comfort. I am still trying to decide on a tire and I am having great difficulty with that as well (too much choice and many differing opinions). I am looking for a quiet, good handling tire that will not fall apart after 10,000 miles. If anybody has opinion on this I would be glad to hear from you as well. I have been away for a while and I feel a bit out of touch.

Thank you in advance (I highly regard the opinion and information that I receive on these forums)

Any problems with the wheels rubbing at all? How low do you have it set with the CS coilovers?

Anybody else with advice? I am leaning towards the Michelin Pilots PS/2's as I think this tire seems to be very good. If I could get 20,000 miles out of them I would be pleased. I don't push the car for 70% of the time - the other 30% is all daily driving but "spirited". I just want to make make sure that I won't have to make any modifications to the wheel wells or anything else for the "fat set up". If anybody else can help I would really appreciate it.

it'll depends on your offsets

i'm currently on 245/40 40offset front and 285/35 44offset rear on CS-t and no rubbing

Pardon my stupidity and lack of knowledge but does this mean a higher offset more chance of rubbing? Thank you for this.

I am sorry I meant the other way - I was reading through the threads and to be more exact if I ran 19x8.5 +38 and 19x10 +44 and a fat tire set up as noted in the first post 245/40 for the front and 275/35 for the back cna anybody tell me for sure if I would have wheel rubbing - I don't want to perform any fender modifications. Tire Rack has a clear definition of what an offset is and rominl has a great write up on wheel fitment but because everybody has such variations in car set ups I still cannot decipher whether the above wheels and tires with my CS would clear.

Well this is a recent experience for me so here goes:

First off, the higher the offset (+ any larger number), the sunken in you are.
So the smaller the number, the more your wheels are pushed towards the fender.

With your numbers, running 275/35/19s with a +44, I'm sure you're safe.

My rears are 19x10 with +41, a little more aggressive than yours, and the old tires were 275/35. When I put them on, the rear tires were rubbing like 1/8" or so. Since I was going to shave the fenders anyway, I threw on some 285/35 tires. Seems like there's some room left before it hits the fender. I also have the teins cs V1.

It doesn't look that great aesthestically, but I love the extra cushion for the protection esp. with a medium size lip (3")

should be ok all around. i'd be a tad bit concerned about the rear more than the fronts. but even +44 is conservative. but again, i'm no tire pro and i'm not running a fat setup.

i've got same fronts as you except +40 on 245/35's and my rear offset is higher than yours except on 275/30; yes 19's. by the way, i was flush-tucked all around and no rubbing.

i dont think u shud worry, again tho, i'm no pro. GL!

Thank you for your input. This helps alot as I was considering going +42 for the rears but I thought that it may cause some problems - this is why I thought +44 would be safe.

Thanks 4ntvings. I was considering the 275/30 for the back as well but I would like a bit of that extra cushion that is why I would like to go with the 275/35. What is your offset on the back?
