Winter storage for summer tire/wheels: what to do?
What do most people do in this case.
The summer treads and chrome wheels are coming off within the next few weeks. The will be cleaned and wrapped in plastic to be stored in the garage (up on a large shelf). Mind you I am asking with New England winters in mind and they will go into storage for 6 months.
1. Do I store them standing up, leaning, or flat on the back side of the rim?
2. Do I let some air out of them?
thanks to all those that can provide any infor. This is the first time I have had to store/swap out a set.

Stevie,
I just stack my wheels on top of each other, 5 high if you include the spare, in the corner of my garage. I have a dilemma myself since I now have 16" and 17" wheels stacked in my garage, I'm on 18" now. Debating whether I should get all-season tires for the 17" rim or just stick with the 16's for the winter as I have for the past 2 years. Decisions decisions....

Bringing this old thread back.....anyone purchase some kind of 'tire rack' or other storage solution for their garage?
I have 2 sets of all season & now 2 sets of winter rubber & wheels to worry about & I don't want to keep lugging them up & down from my basement every 6 months or so. I found these ideas and am curious about the actual wall mounted 8' tire rack...
Economical (although I think this should have wheel casters)...

More expensive...

Any other suggestions?
