Default New Tire Time, Quietest Tires?

It is time to replace my Bridgestone RF's there is still tread left at 10,000 but the road noise is hastening their replacement.

The two tires I am considering are Michelin Pilot Sport AS and Yokohama AVS db2. I am seeking comfort and quiet over performance. Does any body have experience with these tires or other suggestions? I am particularily interested in any comments about noise after they wear a bit. Apart from the bad ride my RF's started off quiet but by 8000 miles were singing to me.
Thanks in advance.

Not for nothing; I put Conti ExtremeContacts on and I LOVE them.

No noise, smooth, any handling deficit is minimal.

And they were dirt cheap @ TireRack.

Default Michelin Pilot Sports

I only have 300 miles on my car, but so far I love the Pilots (not AS). They are MUCH quieter and smoother than the Bridgestone RFs. There may be other good choices out there, but you won't go wrong with the Michelins.

Yokohama DB2 is very good. Very quiet, responsive, and has good wet traction.

I've put a couple thousand miles on my Michelin Pilot Sports and they're very quiet. Nice ride and handling.

Default Beleive it or not Goodyears

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3
I 'm so happy with these Tires. Check this link for the whole story.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
We bought our 2002 SC430 certified pre owned and the 1st owner had the good
since to put these on the car. Traction is great wet or dry and what a comfortable
ride yet handles great & Very Quiet. Read the story about how this tire was designed
in Europe for Sports and GT Cars. Yes I have a spare and some time we put the top
up when we go to the grocery store then there is lots of room in the trunk.
We took a road (1500 miles rt) trip to the Gulf coast of Mississippi 6 weeks ago.
By the time we got from Ft Worth to Shreveport and stopped for gas I noticed some-
thing shiny in the rt fr tire (center of the tread). It turned out to be a screw. We drove
the rest of the way and had it repaired with a plug the next day at a local tire shop.
They didn't even have to take the tire off the car. 10 bucks! I can't complain.
The best part about the tires is the price 198.00 @ tirerack. The second best part
is the sexy tread pattern. I turn the wheels all the way one direction when parked
and get compliments not only on the car but the tires too.

Default tires

I agree with JoePeters, the Eagle F1 GS-DS3 are fast becoming the tire to choose now as it seems to beat the Michellen P/S in both wet/dry and it costs less than the P/S.

If you went to Tirerack.com and read the reviews and tests, the Eagle F1's are very close if not better than the PS, and fore less money it now has my vote when I have to change from those nasty RFT's.

Go an give the Goodyears a look at. Only problem is they are not avalible yet! DAMN!

Regards,
Deanski

Default Run Flats

I'm assuming you are no longer going to be using run flat tires on the vehicle. Hopefully you have a back up plan if you get a flat. That said, the Michelin is the very quiet followed by the Yoko AVS DB S2 and the Continental Extreme Contact.

I love the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. Awesome dry handling for and all-season tire, great wet handling, no sidewall wobble on lane changes, not much noise, great on-center tracking (no wander). Much, much better than Bridgestone RE030's that were stock on the GS4. And you can drive it in light snow. They're just expensive...

That seems to be the same complaint i hear about the S03s. I got a great deal on a set but I turned it down a few weeks back because of the numerous complaints about them. Hopefully my Toyos will fair better.
