18"x9" fitment on GS400
Hello,
I am looking for some feedback regarding fitment of 18"x9" wheels all the way around on a GS400. As I drive approximately 25k miles a year, I would like to go with 18x9 all around so that I can rotate my tires while maximizing the car's footprint. I currently have an eibach/bilstein combination under the car, but intend to upgrade to Tein CS coilovers in the fall. I have read in other threads that the GS will accomodate 9" wheels on the front, but I want to know will there be any rubbing or the need to modify suspension/fenders/fender wells? I do not intend to do any brake upgrades. In addition, could I run Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in 255/40/18 without problems or will I need to stay with 245/40/18? One of the wheels I am looking to potentially purchase is by BC Forged (model BC10) in a two-piece design that can have custom offsets. The wheels only come in whole inch widths. I plan to have the wheel done to maximize lip size. If this size is possible, what offset would you suggest? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Hello Brad,
Indeed, the GS will accommodate a 9" wide wheel on the front. Whether or not it'll rub is determined by tire size and offset. I would suggest a 245/40-18 for the 18x9, which is the 'correct' overall diameter for the GS.
The 255/40-18 will work great with the proper offset.
As far as the BC forged stuff goes, I am not familiar with what their offset capablilities are, but a +38 is about ideal for this width on the GS. I run 20x9 +35 (1/8" more outboard than the 9" +38 offset) on mine, because I like the aggressive look. If you go in past +40, you may have issues with the inner sidewall of the tire contacting the suspension upright.
One more thing to consider- do you have plans for a future brake upgrade? This will affect the amount of lip you can get with a modular wheel such as this. Typically, more lip = less clearance for brakes. The manufacturer should be able to tell you what combinbation will or won't work for you.
I would recommend contacting BC Forged or one of their distributors for further details.
Best regards,
Bob
