tire sizing help
I am going with 265/35/18's on the rear with a 18x10 rim....my question is with a 18x8 front wheel what tires size will give me the same sidewall look as the rear tire?
thanks for your input.

265/35-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 92.8
--diameter (mm) = 642.7
--circumf. (mm) = 2019.1
235/40-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 94.0
--diameter (mm) = 645.2
--circumf. (mm) = 2027.0
0.39% difference in circumference.
OR if you want that stretched look on the front maybe roll with
265/35-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 92.8
--diameter (mm) = 642.7
--circumf. (mm) = 2019.1
225/40-18:
--sidewall (mm) = 90.0
--diameter (mm) = 637.2
--circumf. (mm) = 2001.8
(0.86)% difference in circumference.
--sidewall (mm) = 92.8
--diameter (mm) = 642.7
--circumf. (mm) = 2019.1

ahh why thank you.. that helps alot.. that was what I was lookin for ... yeah the 265/35/18 on a 10 will looked kinda stretched not too bad tho... I just wanted to make sure the front tire will look similar and not have a huge front sidewall and a sleek rear sidewall..

so the best bet for the stretched look since I will be having the stretched look in the rear with the 265/35 would be 225/40? or perhaps 225/35???

Emo, for the 265/35-18 rear, the 235/40-18 is technically the 'correct' front tire.
The 275 is a much better fit for the 18x10... you are talking about a IS, right? I'm not sure an 18x10 will fit on the rear of that thing! The widest I have done is 9.5" on the rear...
Ethan, are you taking about the new IS? Dude, you need 19x8 225/35-19 and 19x9 255/30-19...
or, better yet, 19x8.5 235/35-19 and 19x9.5 265/30-19... especially with all that power! We should talk! (also, I want a test-ride!)
Regards,
Bob

i have 235/40 up front now... they do not look stretched at all so i dont wanna have a rear wheel with a stretched look and the fronts not stretched look.. i think it might look a lil hokey... ya know..??

Flares... now I get it! I think the 285/30-18 would look hot on the IS. I did this set-up a few years ago on the rear of an Audi TT we used at the SEMA show. A 245/35-18 is a perfect match for the 285/30-18. Looked killer, and keeps the diameter close to stock (actually .1" taller), so gearing isn't really affected.
The 265/35-18 is a bit taller than stock (about .6"), so be sure to figure this will cause some speedometer error and effectively changes the final drive ratio a bit.
Your existing 285/35-18 tires are 1.2" taller than stock (yikes!), and certainly contribute to your current clearance issues. I would definitely go to a shorter tire!

but will the stretched sidewall on 265/35 on a 10 inch rim still be higher then stock...?? and is the 225/40 on a the front 8 inch rim gonna give me the same look as the 265 stretched on the 10 inch rim?
