Default Wheel question

I have a 95 ES300 and am i'm really confused on what to look for when buying wheels. Right now I have stock wheels and tires and I want to look at 17s and 18s. What do I look for when looking at the wheels?

Also, would other factory lexus wheels fit on my car?

Try CL sponsor Tirerack. Here is a link to see how different wheels look on your 95 ES300:

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that 18" rims with 225/40/18 tires will keep the speedo correct. That seems to be the most popular setup with 18's. It is what I'm getting too. Don't forget the suspension since with the bigger wheels the car will look as if it were lifted.

Other factory lexus wheels will fit. Some other members have different lexus wheels on. IS wheels and SC430 wheels. I don't know too much more since i've never really considered doing that, but do a search and you should come up with different info.

I have a 1996 ES300 with stock IS300 rims and tires and love them. The car handles way better with the lower profile tires. I believe they are 17" x 7" ...but could be wrong on the width. Here is a pic.

I always forget to this say this additional stuff after the fact...

No weird modifications to get the IS300 rims to fit. Just had to use the IS300 lugs since the ES300 lugs stuck out about an inch and a half to far. Got the full set (rims and tires) off EBAY for $550 (price included the $100 shipping from Florida to California). I didn't know about the lugs when I bought them, ended up getting the lugs at the dealer for like $8.50 each...that hurt, but wanted them on the car ASAP.

Car would look better with a 1" to 1.5" inch drop, in my opinion. That will be in the future.

Here is a side pic.

someone on here told me not to get those rims cause the is300 is a rear wheel drive and the offsets are different.

I think the offset on my original ES rims was 45 and I believe the IS are also 45. Either way they fit like they were designed for my car. From the front and the back you can't even tell I changed the rims and tires...which kinda sucks. But the side view is the major difference. I have seen at least five other ES300's on this site with IS300 rims. No complaints from anyone.

Found this tire size calculator on a Miata web site. Not sure if someone has posted this before. Basically you enter your original size tire/rim info and then enter your new tire/rim info and it tells you the difference.

The site is: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Here is a picture of it (comparing my original ES300 tires/rims to my IS300 tires/rims.
