Tires! Tires? Tires #$%@!

If anyone out there has a second to give me his or her opinion, I would be in your debt.
I recently put new tires on my SC400 and I am about to pull my hair out with them. It is a love/hate relationship! I put (4) Bridgestone RE730 Z rated tires on my coupe in July on a recommendation. They are awesome tires for dry handling, wet handling, and resisting hydroplaning. HOWEVER! The noise is absolutely terrible. It sounds like a swamp buggy inside my coupe now with these things going down the road.
Can you recommend a tire that does not break the bank…but provides good V rated handling WITHOUT this god-awful noise???
Thanks!

Hello,
Those tires cost $211 a piece from the tire rack. I remember seeing the same tires only 235 instead of 225 on eaby. Try looking for theme, maybe you can have a good deal.

Personally I've always love Toyo tires... good balance between price and performance. Just my opinion... I hear the Dunlops are very good tho... Bridgestone Potenzas are nice... and Yokohama AVS are very nice too... good luck with your choice!

I had the Dunlops years ago on my 300Z. Very nice traction and noise level but wear out too quickly.
I'm running on Pirelli supersport on my sc right now. It's Z-speed rated, has high treadwear and good traction. Don't think I can spin my wheels though so Z-speed is redundant here.

that is sooo strange
several members from the gs board had very good experience(in terms of quiteness) with the re730, especially with 18"s.
i guess each person has diff experience.

yes, you are right about personal taste....but these things are too loud for a LEXUS. I had Pirelli P6000 sport veloce on my SC300 and they were not as good...but hey were quite.
Who knows....If I did not love the performance so much....I would have slashed them myself. They grip the road like glue! And rain...what rain?

We have the Michelin Pilot XGT Z4s on our GS400...
Overall an awesome tire...Great dry grip, super durable long wearing, Extremely stable on the highway and tracks very well, doesn't follow ruts. Also, these have to be the roundest tires we've had... Absolutely NO vibration whatsoever, even well into the triple digits
One downside, they're noisy. Not the loudest, but still noisy. They're just a bit too loud for the super quiet GS, but I think they'd be o.k. on the SC as its a louder car. They'd be the perfect tire for my SC as the engine exhaust, leaky sunroof and low gearing generate a fair amount of noise on their own.

I was wondering, what kind of mileage difference would it be between a 220 tread rated tire to a 300 tread rated tire? i was looking at the nitto nt555 compared to the kumho ecsta 712 and the price difference is 300$ for a set of 4 dollars, thats a big difference.
