Default Custom the wheel offset~

Hi crew........I got my rear wheels 20x10.5 +38 and I don't think they'll fit and I'll need to shave off couple mm. What's the max I can shave off???

10.5?? Can't wait to see them. You're comin' to the June 14th meet right?? Can you afford to shave that much more off your fenders? I think you might wanna consider rolling the fenders even though I know you're against it...might not even have a choice if you want the wheels on there.

what I think he means is that he plans on milling the back of the wheel (hub mating surface) to get a higher offset. I had a friend with a Supra TT that did that with a set of GT-C's (rubbing in the rear a little...but didn't wanna roll the fenders)...he took it to a machine shop and had them milled down a couple of millimeters.

That sounds like jeopardizing integrity of the wheel. If the wheels didn't fit, why did you buy them in the first place..now you're talking about sacrificing safety for looks....dangerous territory.

To fit a 10.5 in the back w/o rubbing, you'll need +45 - +50 offset which means you need to shave off 7+ mm off the center. I'm not sure any wheel structure can afford that much of metal loss in the hat area.

Typically, you can shave 3mm off of the backpad of the wheel if it has already had its' PCD (bolt pattern) drilled. A wheel or machine shop well-versed in this sort of thing can accomplish this by milling the backpad, provided they have the appropriate fixture to hold the wheel.

There's a shop here in Los Angeles called Russell Machine who is very good at this sort of thing (310) 532-5520.

If you remove any more than 3mm, you begin to compromise the integrity of the lug seat area of the wheel.

Bottom line: 3mm, okay.... more than 3mm, no way...

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like it'll be enough to make them work for you...
