Tyre Weld - No Need For A Spare Wheel
I remember a long time ago I was looking around a Lotus. It had no spare wheel. Just an areosol. Since then I've always wanted to find out what the gizmo was so I could make my car:...
1 lighter
2 faster
3 have even more free space (I'm sure some of the ICE enthusuats would be v keen on that!)
4 better on fuel economy
This weekend I put my spare wheel into my garage. Permenantley. I tracked down the gizmo. I just bought some Tyre Weld, a small cannister that you can use to inflate a punctured tyre. It's made my a company not many miles away from where I live! Apparently Bentley also use this product, allegedly.
I have no idea if anyone here already has done this, to me its one of the cheapest and simplest changes you can make to your car. It cost me £8 about US$ 12. I don't know if it's legal in the USA to do what I did, but it's legal here as far as I know. Anyway hope you found this a useful post guys and sorry if you already knew about it!

i thought these kind of products have been around for a long time? the current m3 and m5 don't have any spare too for weight reduction, and instead you find something like this in the trunk, an air compression stuff that will inflat a flat tire. however, it doesn't work always. if the flat tire is a more than a nail or little hole, it won't do much at all from what i know

I didn't say this was a new product. Just like me people may have never considered replacing their spare. It's reliable enough for Ferrari to use! I just was in a 355 F1 from back in 1998 and that comes with Tyre Weld too. It's nothing to do with air, it is a sealer substance. It works on holes up to 5mm which is larger then I've ever had punctures.
