Default Would you buy display model tires?

Hi all.

It's time for winter tires for my 3IS, and my local Costco has the tires I want. However their only set is one that has been on display at the entrance of the tire shop.

I'm worried that people could have played around with it or it could have some unnoticeable damage... Am I being paranoid? I know the set is brand new and has never been mounted on wheels.

Question to any knowledgeable person or who anyone who works at a tire shop : would you buy that set or ask for a new set to be ordered (not sure they'd accept to do this...)?

Is it sitting at a window or doorway where it is in constant sunlight? If not, I'd check the dates on when they were manufactured and if they haven't been sitting there too long I'd still take them.

Costco has a great reputation for returns, etc so I personally wouldn't worry about it

Not in sunlight but in a spot where they could easily be bumped into. I'll head there tomorrow and check the dates. The salesperson said they were a special order for a customer that was cancelled.

Edit : they're the blizzak ws80 which they started manufacturing this year, so I'm certain the dates will be fine.

Tires take a huge amount of abuse. Someone bumping into them will not do any hard. I think you will be fine.

I agree.

Special orders fall through all the time.

Take advantage of a brand new tire to know for sure it is not too old.
