Your in NJ running chrome wheels in the winter? I am in Michigan and would have to buy a new set of wheels every year if I did that, the salt and hot patch black top would eat them alive.

I have a question for you, how well did the chrome stick to the lip of the wheel? Obviously your having issues with one right now, but overall, how did it hold up? I have a set of wheels that need re chromed, and I was contimplating having the lips chromed also instead of polished.

Overall the chrome is holding up pretty well, the wheels are about a year old.. I had the lip fixed and never got it rechromed and I think thats why this one is peeling..

if it is a clearcoat issue you would have to strip the clear coat off the wheel and polish it with mothers or bluemagic. do a search and we had a long discussion and step by step i think GS4FUN started it !

That's what I was thinking. If your centers are polished, the lips should be polished SS.

The chrome started to buble and i decided to peel it off. That was a stupid idea. Anyone have any suggestions.

these rims are more popular than i thought. its getting to the LD-1 point.

well, at least chrome appears easier to have refinished than the polished version. polished wheels never look the same as the original, so it becomes on oddball to those who are observant

Holy crap, exactly why I never drive on chrome in the snow.

I would have the entire set rechromed to match and look the same. Probally about 750-1k. Sorry for ya.

Yeah, thats definitely chrome peeling, not clear coat. The only option you have is to get the lip re chromed, I geuss thats obvious.

You will probably have to send the lip out to get it re chromed, unless you can find a local place that chromes, which is usually difficult. Im going through the same thing right now. I have a local place that has to take the wheel apart, then I have to send out the pieces to get chromed, then bring them back to the local shop to have them put back together. Its a big pain in the a*#!!!
