Wheels with low profile tires and car washing places? Can they damage the wheels?
I know any good car owner washes his/her car himself but I live in an apartment and I don't have any place where I can hand wash my Lexus so I use this car washing place nearby. I was getting my car washed there the other day and I started to wonder if I should be concerned about using those places after putting on my 18" wheels with the lower profile tires. Should I be concerned about the wheels getting damaged in the tracks that lead the car through the car wash? Thanks.

If they use those metal railing to guide your car thru the car wash then YES. If you have low profile tire(<45), if your car is not perfectly straight and left tire right in tthe middle of the railing. You'll scratch the rim.
I quit going to the car wash long time ago. I do not want to risk my invesments on those metal railings. It's pain to wash car in the freezing wind these days

<<<<YES!!!!>>>>
First of all....the water those places use leave water marks on the car and yo end up having to wash your car all over again. 2nd those places use those metal rails and only a few have the guards on them to protect the rims.....I take my car to a shop in Corona, Queens to get it detailed...$20 for wash...$40 for wax...they are very good the name is Dynamic Detailing. I recommend them to anyone in the NYC area....this is a true car wash...when I say detail...I mean DETAIL!!!
