Default Tire Recomendations

I have a 94 LS400 running on the stock chromers, I believe they are 16's. I'm looking for a new set of tires. I live in the Bay Area so the car never sees snow; only wet weather during the winter. So I guess the tire I need would be an all-season tire. I want something that will provide good performance under hard driving conditions but isn't too loud and won't change the ride significantly. Appropriate sizing would help too. Any help is appreciated in advance!

I'm now a fan of Dunlop SP Sport 5000. Very quiet, stays quiet (unlike the Yoko AVS dB, which I have also used, which tends to get noisy over its life at the slightest chance of uneven wear). On top of this, the price is excellent. Check it out on tirerack.

If you're cost conscious and are a member of Cosco, check out the tires they carry there like Kirkland, Bridgestone, Michelin, and BFG. You can search for what you like and call up Costco to have them order a set for you if they don't have them in stock.

Their prices can't be beat anywhere - the price includes ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY at no extra charge for the life of the tire! We got a set of BFG g-Force KDWS (17") from the Costco store on Story Road.

If you want performance check out: Bridgestone S-03 (summer), Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (all season), or BFG g-Force KDWS (all season). I think in 16" they also carry the Bridgestone Potenza 940 and 730.

Best bang for the buck is the KDWS. Low price, great performance (400 treadwear, AA traction, and A temperature), low noise, great in the rain, and unlike the other high performance tires, these are non-directional so you can x-rotate them w/o any problems. We have about 3k miles on these tires and they are absolutely great. Can't say enough good thing about these tires, oh yeah, they are made by Michelin so I think you can count on quality there also.

I have also heard good things about the Dunlop, just that Costco does not carry Dunlop so it was not considered when I bought the KDWS.
