Can I use a non-matching side wall?

Default Can I use a non-matching side wall?

Long story short, got a flat the other day and had to drive a few miles until i reached a safe distance to add air. Now the bead is broken but still holds air. I want to replace it because the tire doesn't seem safe to drive on because it vibrates violently over 60MPH.

I currently have 255/35/18 on my rear wheel. I am planning to replace the damaged one with 255/40/18 and continue using the non-damaged 255/35/18 on the other rear.

Will this cause any problems?

yes, a difference in tire diameter will cause stability control, traction control and potentially rear differential problems...

Your shaking is because the inside of the tire is damaged and it will blow out soon...
